About

Bergamot Food Fragrance is a cold-pressed peel oil of Citrus bergamia, diluted in fractionated coconut oil (MCT) and supplied in a 10 mL amber glass bottle with a fine-mist spray head. The odour is fresh citrus and sweet-floral over a balsamic base: the signature top note of Earl Grey tea.

Functional Properties

Bergamot is the rare citrus that carries floral persistence as well as lift. Limonene above 40.0 % opens the profile, linalyl acetate above 15.0 % and linalool above 7.5 % supply the sweet-floral heart, and β-pinene above 5.0 % with γ-terpinene above 3.0 % keep the edges green.

Quality

By GC-FID area normalisation the specified constituents total above 85.0 % and identified compounds reach a minimum of 95 %. Arsenic, cadmium, lead and mercury are not detected; microbiology complies. A clear, colourless to pale yellow-green mobile liquid; shelf life 24 months. Expressed bergamot contains photosensitising furocoumarins: for leave-on skin products observe the applicable dermal limit or specify a bergapten-reduced (FCF) grade.

Applications

  • Tea flavouring: Earl Grey and black tea blends
  • Confectionery: hard candy, cremes and citrus desserts
  • Beverages: bitter aperitifs, syrups and cocktail bases
  • Fragrance: cologne-style accords with a bright, sparkling opening
