Our Story
AltraFlora was founded in Denizli, Turkey, to produce supercritical CO₂ plant extracts for the cosmetic, food, and pharmaceutical industries — rosemary, sage, black cumin, Izmir oregano, amaranth. From the first day of production we kept quality control in our own hands: we built an analytical laboratory right next to the production line. Over time that laboratory outgrew its quality-control role and became a fully equipped chromatography lab and a process-development division operating under its own name (AltraProcess). Today the two sides work in the same building, with the same team: one produces the extract, the other proves it. Every claim we make about an extract is the result of our own scientific analysis.
Production
We operate supercritical CO₂ extraction exclusively — no organic solvents at any stage, which means no solvent residues and full preservation of heat-sensitive actives. Two systems in continuous operation:
- Superex SC-1000: 1 L laboratory extractor rated to 500 bar, two separators. Used for method development, active-compound isolation, and small production batches.
- Superex P-60: Industrial system with two 30 L extractors, working pressures up to 345 bar, CO₂ flow of 5 kg/min, and greater than 95% CO₂ recovery.
Both systems are engineered and built in Turkey by Pard Engineering under the Superex brand. Every new product is developed and optimized on the 1 L unit, then transferred to the industrial line — this is how we reach the optimal conditions and throughput for each product.
Analytical Laboratory
Our in-house laboratory runs a Shimadzu chromatography line: GCMS-QP2020 NX (volatile compound identification, NIST library), Nexis GC-2030 (FID), an HPLC with photodiode-array detector, and a multi-mode plate reader (total phenolics, DPPH/ABTS/FRAP antioxidant assays). Every production lot is analysed before shipping. We test against European Pharmacopoeia parameters: total ash, pesticides, aflatoxins, ochratoxin A, benzo(a)pyrene. Microbial safety is verified to ISO standards. The TDS and MSDS that ship with your order are based on measurements we performed — not outsourced reports.
Team and Academic Ties
Our laboratory is led by Dr Deniz Can Köseoğlu, a PhD-trained analytical chemist. Our scientific advisor, Prof Abdullah Akdoğan (Food Engineering, Pamukkale University), brings twenty years of supercritical extraction experience to our projects. We work under the same roof as PARD Engineering (Konya), the manufacturer of our extraction systems: a hardware modification can be made on Monday and a pilot batch run on Friday. We maintain joint research and publications with Pamukkale, Istanbul, and Bursa Uludağ universities — we treat every commercial project as if it were going to be published; the discipline shows in the results.
What We Produce
Standardized, solvent-free CO₂ extracts of rosemary, sage, black cumin, Izmir oregano, amaranth, and other botanicals — for nutraceutical, cosmetic, food, and feed formulators. See our full catalog with specifications.
Experience We Share
Because we develop our own extraction processes and operate both laboratory-scale and industrial-scale systems daily, we also advise companies planning their first supercritical CO₂ investment. Capacity assessment, process development, documentation (TDS, MSDS, COA) — we can help you define what you need before you sit down with equipment vendors. Learn more on our CO₂ extraction page.
