About
Juniper Berry Food Fragrance is a food-grade aroma oil from dried Juniperus communis berries of Turkish origin, diluted in fractionated coconut oil (MCT) and supplied in a 10 mL amber glass bottle with a fine-mist spray head. The odour is fresh, resinous and woody over a green-herbaceous body.
Functional Properties
The monoterpene fraction carries the characteristic resinous lift: α-pinene at 40–55 % and β-myrcene at 30–40 % together define the profile, with limonene at 2–5 % and (E)-caryophyllene at >1.0 % adding a faint citrus and spicy tail. Use sparingly in flavour applications, where levels well below 0.05 % are typical. Not recommended for use during pregnancy.
Quality
By GC-FID area normalisation the specified constituents total >85 % and identified compounds >95 %. Arsenic, cadmium, lead and mercury are below the detection limit, and microbiology complies. A clear, colourless to pale-yellow mobile liquid that dissolves in ethanol and fixed oils but not in water; shelf life 24 months.
Applications
- Spirits: gin, bitters, vermouth and spirit bases
- Savoury: marinades, game seasoning and brines
- Fragrance: fresh-woody accords for soaps and home products
