About

Bitter Orange Food Fragrance is a cold-pressed peel oil of Citrus aurantium, diluted in fractionated coconut oil (MCT) and supplied in a 10 mL amber glass bottle with a fine-mist spray head. The odour is fresh and dry citrus with a bitter-green edge, drier and greener than sweet orange.

Functional Properties

The essential-oil fraction is almost entirely limonene at a minimum of 88 %, with linalool at max. 4.0 % supplying the soft floral lift that distinguishes the material. The aldehydes decanal (0.1–1.0 %) and octanal (0.1–1.0 %) give the waxy peel realism that makes bitter orange read as fruit rather than candy, and α-pinene at 0.5–3.0 % keeps the opening crisp.

Quality

By GC-FID area normalisation the specified constituents total at least 92 % and identified compounds reach a minimum of 98 %. Heavy metals come back not detected, and the microbiological panel is within limits. A clear, colourless to pale yellow-orange mobile liquid; shelf life 24 months. Store cold and full to limit oxidation, and observe the photosensitivity guidance for leave-on skin products.

Applications

  • Preserves: marmalade and candied peel work
  • Beverages: liqueurs, bitters and aperitif bases
  • Bakery: cakes, doughs and glazes needing a drier citrus
  • Fragrance: citrus-floral accords where sweet orange reads too candied
