Water-Dispersible Pink Grapefruit Food Fragrance is cold-pressed peel oil of fresh Citrus paradisi fruit, emulsified in a lecithin and water base. The milky-white to pale-yellow oil-in-water emulsion brings the bitter-fresh grapefruit top note straight into soft drinks, ready-to-drink beverages and syrups with no pre-solubilisation step.
Functional Properties
The odour is fresh and sharp, slightly bitter and green — the top note that sets grapefruit apart from orange. Limonene carries the essential-oil fraction at more than 80.0 %, while β-myrcene at more than 1.0 % gives the green-terpenic edge that reads as the characteristic bitterness.
Quality
By GC-FID area normalisation the specified constituents of the essential-oil fraction total above 85.0 % and identified compounds reach a minimum of 95 %. Arsenic, cadmium, lead and mercury are not detected; microbiology complies. Disperses in water and mixes with ethanol; shelf life 12 months unopened at 2–8 °C — shake well before use. As with all expressed citrus peel oils, observe the photosensitivity guidance for leave-on skin products.
