About
Sage Antioxidant Extract is a lipophilic oleoresin from Salvia triloba (Greek sage) leaves, obtained by supercritical CO₂ extraction. Standardised to more than 13% carnosic acid and carnosol combined (CAS 3650-09-7 and 5957-80-2) in oil.
Functional Properties
Like its rosemary counterpart, sage-derived carnosic acid is a potent phenolic diterpene antioxidant. It protects lipid matrices from oxidation and extends shelf life in food applications. Greek sage (S. triloba) offers a milder, less camphorous flavor profile compared to common sage (S. officinalis).
Quality
Low-temperature SFE process preserves heat-sensitive polyphenols without solvent residues. Carnosic acid content verified by HPLC. TDS and MSDS available.
Applications
- Food & Beverage: Natural antioxidant for oils, fats, and meat products — alternative source to rosemary with distinct flavor
- Nutraceuticals: Cognitive support, menopausal comfort formulations
- Cosmetics: Anti-aging and antioxidant skincare
