Oregano Terpene Extract (>50% essential oil)

Oregano terpene supercritical CO₂ extract (Origanum onites) is frequently specified under the trade name oregano oil and delivers exceptional carvacrol concentration representing the pinnacle of oregano's bioactive potential. This golden-yellow oil presents a warm, herbaceous, balsamic profile characteristic of Turkish oregano.

Functional Properties

Carvacrol dominates at 83.7%—an isopropyl cresol with extensively documented antimicrobial activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, fungi, and certain parasites. Supporting terpenes include linalool (3.9%) adding floral notes, β-bisabolene (1.9%), thymol (0.9%) contributing medicinal sharpness, and γ-cadinene (0.6%). The exceptional carvacrol concentration enables efficacious dosing in antimicrobial applications.

Quality

Standardised to >80% carvacrol by GC (latest batch: 83.7%), equivalent to more than 50% essential oil. Supercritical extraction ensures complete terpene preservation. Complies with Ph. Eur. specifications for oregano preparations.
